grammaticality

Sentence structure soundness

Grammaticality refers to whether a sentence or phrase conforms to the rules of a language's grammar.

Linguists use it to judge if native speakers would accept a construction as well-formed, regardless of meaning or style.

The grammaticality of "him went store" is questionable.

A sentence can be grammatical but nonsensical, or meaningful but ungrammatical—the two qualities are independent.
