goosestep

Rigid military stride

Goosestep is a military marching style in which the legs swing stiffly forward without bending at the knee.

Most associated with Nazi Germany and other authoritarian regimes, making it a symbol of militarism and blind obedience: The soldiers goosestepped past the reviewing stand.

The name comes from the rigid, mechanical gait resembling a goose's walk.
