Salt March

Indian independence protest

The Salt March was a 1930 protest led by Mohandas Gandhi against British colonial rule in India.

Gandhi and followers walked 240 miles to the sea to make their own salt, defying British monopoly on salt production.

The march became a pivotal moment in India's independence movement and a model for nonviolent civil disobedience worldwide.
