genealogies

Recorded ancestral lines

Genealogies is the plural of genealogy—the study or record of family descent and lineage.

A genealogy traces who descended from whom, mapping ancestors and descendants across generations: She spent years researching her family's genealogies.

The word also applies to the history or development of anything: the genealogies of ideas, the genealogy of a musical genre.
