fundie

Strict scripture believer

Fundie is informal, usually disparaging slang for a fundamentalist—typically a religious fundamentalist who interprets scripture literally and holds strictly traditional beliefs.

The term appears most often in criticism: The fundies want creationism taught in schools.

Less commonly, it can refer to any ideological purist.
