bottom-up

Starting from basics

Bottom-up describes an approach that starts with small parts or low-level details and builds toward a larger whole or higher-level understanding.

In organizations, bottom-up initiatives originate from workers rather than management.

In analysis or design, bottom-up means assembling components before grasping the complete system: We took a bottom-up approach, testing each module before integration.
