front axle
Forward wheel connector
The front axle is the axle at the front of a vehicle, connecting the two front wheels.
In rear-wheel-drive vehicles, it primarily supports weight and enables steering.
In front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive vehicles, it also transmits power to the wheels: The mechanic said the front axle needs replacing.
