tie rod
Wheel-alignment link bar
A tie rod is a rod that holds parts together or keeps them a fixed distance apart, especially in automotive steering systems where tie rods connect the steering mechanism to the wheels.
When a mechanic says your tie rods are worn, the car probably wanders or the steering feels loose.
Tie rods also appear in construction, bracing walls or anchoring structures.
