sideband
Signal frequency offset
A sideband is a band of frequencies above or below a carrier wave, produced when a signal modulates that carrier.
In radio transmission, the carrier wave itself contains no information—the sidebands carry the actual audio or data content.
AM radio produces two sidebands; single-sideband transmission uses only one for greater efficiency.
