fornix
Neural fiber arch
A fornix is an arch-shaped anatomical structure.
In the brain, the fornix is a bundle of nerve fibers forming an arch beneath the corpus callosum, crucial for memory function.
In anatomy generally, fornix describes vault-like recesses—the fornix of the vagina, the conjunctival fornix of the eye.
The plural is fornices.
