fisherman's knot

Line-joining bend

A fisherman's knot is a knot used to join two lines of similar thickness, especially fishing lines.

Each line is tied in an overhand knot around the other, so when tightened, the two knots slide together and lock.

Also called an angler's knot or English knot.

The knot is compact and strong but difficult to untie once loaded.
