stopper knot
Line end bulge
A stopper knot is a knot tied at the end of a rope to prevent it from slipping through a hole, block, or other opening.
Common types include the overhand knot and the figure-eight knot.
The knot creates a bulge that catches against whatever the rope passes through: Tie a stopper knot so the line doesn't run out through the cleat.
