fire road
Emergency access route
A fire road is an unpaved road through forest or wildland, built wide enough for emergency vehicles to access remote areas during wildfires.
Fire roads also serve as firebreaks and are commonly used by hikers, mountain bikers, and off-road vehicles: We hiked the fire road up to the ridge.
Sometimes called a fire trail or fire break road.
