film vault
Cinema preservation facility
A film vault is a climate-controlled storage facility designed to preserve motion picture film, which degrades over time from heat, humidity, and chemical decay.
Studios and archives maintain film vaults to protect original negatives and prints: The restored version was assembled from elements found in the studio's film vault.
The term sometimes extends to digital archives storing movie files.
