film speed

Camera sensor sensitivity

Film speed measures how sensitive photographic film is to light.

Faster film (higher numbers like 400 or 800) needs less light to produce an image, making it suitable for dim conditions or fast action.

Slower film (lower numbers like 100) requires more light but produces finer grain and sharper detail.

The concept carries over to digital photography as ISO settings: I bumped up the ISO for the indoor shots.
