fill valve
Toilet tank component
A fill valve is a mechanism that controls water flow into a tank, opening to allow filling and closing automatically when the water reaches a set level.
The term most commonly refers to the device inside a toilet tank that refills it after flushing: The toilet kept running because the fill valve was worn out.
Fill valves also appear in water heaters, washing machines, and other appliances that need to maintain water levels.
