dump valve
Turbo bypass mechanism
A dump valve is a valve designed to release pressure or contents quickly.
In turbocharged engines, a dump valve (also called a blow-off valve) vents excess boost pressure when the throttle closes, preventing compressor surge and producing a distinctive hissing or whooshing sound.
Industrial systems use dump valves to rapidly empty tanks or relieve dangerous pressure buildup.
