fiberglassing

Applying fiberglass layers

Fiberglassing is the process of applying fiberglass—glass fibers combined with resin—to reinforce or waterproof a surface.

The technique is common in boat building, auto body repair, and surfboard construction: We spent the weekend fiberglassing the hull.

The resin hardens to create a strong, lightweight shell.
