nuchal translucency
Prenatal neck measurement
Nuchal translucency is a measurement taken during prenatal ultrasound, typically between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy.
It measures the fluid-filled space at the back of a fetus's neck.
Increased thickness may indicate higher risk for chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome, prompting further testing: The nuchal translucency scan came back normal.
