fecal transplant
Gut bacteria donation
A fecal transplant is a medical procedure in which stool from a healthy donor is transferred into a patient's digestive tract to restore beneficial gut bacteria.
The procedure treats severe intestinal infections, particularly *Clostridioides difficile*, that resist conventional antibiotics: After multiple rounds of antibiotics failed, doctors recommended a fecal transplant.
Also called fecal microbiota transplant or FMT.
