fandub

Unofficial voice replacement

A fandub is an amateur voice recording made by fans to replace the original audio of a film, show, or video game—typically translating foreign-language content or creating parodies.

The practice emerged from anime communities before spreading to other media: I watched a fandub of that Japanese RPG before the official localization came out.

Compare with fansub, which uses subtitles rather than dubbed audio.
