fan communities
Groups loving franchises
Fan communities are groups of enthusiasts who gather around shared interest in a particular work, franchise, celebrity, or genre.
They produce fan art, fan fiction, and commentary; attend conventions; and maintain online spaces for discussion.
The term emphasizes collective identity and creative participation rather than passive consumption: She found her people in Taylor Swift fan communities.
Such communities often develop their own vocabulary, inside jokes, and social hierarchies.
