eyestalk

Snail's visual protrusion

An eyestalk is a movable stalk with an eye at its tip, found on crustaceans like crabs, lobsters, and shrimp, as well as on snails and slugs.

The structure allows the animal to move its eyes independently and retract them for protection: The crab's eyestalks swiveled as it scuttled sideways.
