peduncle
Blossom's supporting stem
A peduncle is a stalk or stem-like structure.
In botany, it's the main stalk supporting a flower cluster or single flower.
In anatomy, it refers to a band of nerve fibers connecting parts of the brain: the cerebral peduncle.
In zoology, it's any stalk-like projection, such as the narrow segment connecting a barnacle to its substrate.
