entrain

Get on board

To entrain is to board a train: The troops entrained at dawn.

The word is military and formal, rarely used in casual speech.

Separately, entrain has technical meanings in science—to pull along or carry with a flow, as when moving air entrains particles, or when one biological rhythm synchronizes to another: The circadian clock entrains to light cycles.
