electroscope
Detects static presence
An electroscope is a device for detecting electric charge.
In the classic design, two thin gold leaves hang from a metal rod inside a glass container; when a charged object approaches, the leaves spread apart as they acquire the same charge and repel each other.
The degree of separation indicates the strength of the charge.
