egocentricity
Excessive self-focus
Egocentricity is the quality of being self-centered—viewing the world primarily through the lens of one's own experiences, needs, and interests.
The term is neutral in psychology, where it describes a normal developmental stage in children who haven't yet learned to consider other perspectives.
In everyday use, it carries a negative connotation: His egocentricity made collaboration impossible.
Unlike egotism, which implies boastfulness, egocentricity suggests a genuine inability or unwillingness to see beyond oneself.
