e-stop
Emergency shutdown switch
An e-stop (emergency stop) is a safety mechanism that immediately halts a machine or system when activated.
E-stop buttons are typically large, red, and mushroom-shaped for quick access during dangerous situations: Hit the e-stop if the robot arm malfunctions.
Industrial equipment, factory floors, and automated systems require them by regulation.
