GFCI

Bathroom outlet type

GFCI stands for ground fault circuit interrupter, a safety device that cuts electrical power when it detects current flowing along an unintended path—like through water or a person.

GFCIs are required by building codes in bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor outlets where moisture creates shock hazards.

The outlets have TEST and RESET buttons: The GFCI tripped when I plugged in the hair dryer.
