ducking

Bending to avoid

Ducking is the act of lowering quickly to avoid something—a blow, a flying object, or being seen: She went ducking behind the counter when her ex walked in.

It also means evading or dodging: He's been ducking my calls all week.

In older usage, ducking meant plunging someone underwater as punishment, as in a ducking stool.

The word has gained new life as what autocorrect substitutes for "fucking": I'm so ducking tired of this.
