Drilling rig lifter
The drawworks is the primary hoisting system on an oil drilling rig—a large winch that raises and lowers the drill string into the wellbore.
It consists of a drum, motors, brakes, and transmission, functioning as the mechanical heart of drilling operations: The driller controls the drawworks from the doghouse.
The brakes are critical for managing the tremendous weight of pipe suspended in the hole.
