block plane
Small hand planer
A block plane is a small woodworking hand plane designed to be used with one hand.
It excels at trimming end grain, chamfering edges, and fine finishing work.
The blade sits at a lower angle than in bench planes, and the compact size makes it ideal for detail work: I grabbed the block plane to clean up the end of the shelf.
