bodging

Crude repair work

Bodging is doing a job hastily or clumsily, producing something that works but lacks quality or permanence: I bodged the repair with some duct tape.

British informal.

A bodge job is a makeshift fix.

Confusingly, the original sense—skilled woodturning to make chair legs—survives in specialist use, though the slapdash meaning now dominates.
