dramatising

Exaggerating for effect

Dramatising is the British spelling of dramatizing—adapting something for theatrical performance, or presenting events in an exaggerated, emotionally heightened way.

The first sense is neutral: The BBC is dramatising the novel for television.

The second often carries criticism: Stop dramatising everything; it's not that serious.
