doweling

Cylindrical wooden connectors

Doweling is the craft or process of joining pieces of wood using dowels—small cylindrical wooden pins inserted into matching holes.

The technique creates strong joints without visible hardware: The cabinet was assembled entirely through doweling.

Doweling also refers collectively to the wooden rods used for this purpose, sold in standard diameters for cutting to length.
