double pneumonia
Both lungs inflamed
Double pneumonia is pneumonia affecting both lungs simultaneously, as opposed to single-lung pneumonia.
The term is informal and used more in everyday speech than in medical settings, where doctors typically specify bilateral pneumonia: She was hospitalized with double pneumonia.
The condition is generally more serious than infection in one lung alone.
