walking pneumonia
Ambulatory respiratory illness
Walking pneumonia is a mild form of pneumonia that doesn't require bed rest or hospitalization.
The name reflects that patients can remain ambulatory—"walking around"—rather than being bedridden.
It typically refers to infection with Mycoplasma pneumoniae, causing persistent cough, fatigue, and low-grade fever: She had walking pneumonia for three weeks before finally seeing a doctor.
