disbelieved
Thought a lie
Disbelieved is the past tense of disbelieve—to reject as untrue or refuse to accept.
Someone whose account is disbelieved isn't being trusted: She felt hurt that her story was disbelieved.
The word often appears in passive constructions where the focus is on the person not being believed rather than on who's doing the doubting.
