denuclearized
Stripped of warheads
Denuclearized describes a state, region, or entity that has had its nuclear weapons or nuclear capabilities removed or eliminated.
When a country is denuclearized, it no longer possesses nuclear warheads or the infrastructure to produce them.
The term appears frequently in diplomatic contexts: The treaty aimed to create a denuclearized Korean peninsula.
Denuclearized can also apply to power generation, describing areas that have phased out nuclear energy plants.
