declensions

Case and number

Declensions are the different forms a noun, pronoun, or adjective takes to show its grammatical role—subject, object, possessive, and so on.

Latin has five declensions; English has largely abandoned the system, retaining only traces like he/him/his.

In language learning, memorizing declension tables is a traditional rite of passage: I spent hours drilling German declensions.
