anti-lock brakes
Pulsing stop system
Anti-lock brakes are a vehicle safety system that prevents wheels from locking up during hard braking, allowing the driver to maintain steering control.
The system rapidly pumps the brakes automatically—far faster than a human foot could—when it detects a wheel about to stop rotating while the vehicle is still moving.
My anti-lock brakes kicked in when I hit that patch of ice.
Also called ABS.
