cyanide gas

Deadly chemical vapor

Cyanide gas refers to gaseous compounds containing cyanide, most commonly hydrogen cyanide—a colorless, rapidly acting poison with a faint bitter-almond odor.

It interferes with cellular oxygen use, causing death within minutes at sufficient concentrations.

Cyanide gas has been used in chemical warfare, pest control, and notoriously in gas chamber executions: The prison used cyanide gas for capital punishment.
