cornetto
Curved breakfast treat
A cornetto is a wind instrument from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, made of wood or ivory with finger holes like a recorder but played with a cup-shaped mouthpiece like a brass instrument.
The hybrid design produced a tone suited to both sacred and secular music.
Also called cornett in English.
Separately, cornetto is Italian for a crescent-shaped pastry similar to a croissant, or a cone of gelato.
