co-ed

Not single-sex

Co-ed describes something that includes both males and females, especially educational institutions: a co-ed dormitory, the school went co-ed in 1972.

As a noun, co-ed is a dated term for a female college student, from when women were newcomers to previously all-male universities.

The noun now sounds quaint or condescending; the adjective remains standard.
