dining-hall
Campus eating room
A dining-hall is a large room where meals are served to many people at once, typically in institutional settings like schools, universities, monasteries, or military bases.
The term is somewhat more common in British English, while Americans often say dining hall without the hyphen or simply cafeteria.
In older universities, the dining-hall often serves as a ceremonial space with formal traditions around meals.
