club kid
Nightlife young devotee
A club kid is a young person immersed in nightclub culture, especially the flamboyant New York City scene of the late 1980s and 1990s.
Club kids were known for outrageous costumes, heavy makeup, and drug-fueled partying at venues like the Limelight and Tunnel.
The term evokes both creative self-expression and hedonistic excess: She dressed like a club kid for the rave.
The scene gained notoriety when promoter Michael Alig murdered drug dealer Andre Melendez in 1996.
