Nightclub entrance divider
A velvet rope is the soft rope on posts used to control crowds at theaters, clubs, and events—marking who may enter and who must wait.
The term has become shorthand for exclusivity itself: velvet rope treatment, behind the velvet rope.
A velvet rope policy restricts access to privileged guests.
