clonidine
Alpha-agonist antihypertensive drug
Clonidine is a medication that lowers blood pressure by reducing certain nerve signals.
Originally developed for hypertension, it's now commonly prescribed for ADHD, anxiety, opioid withdrawal symptoms, and sleep difficulties.
It works by calming the sympathetic nervous system: The doctor added clonidine to help with his insomnia.
