civvy
Out of uniform
Civvy is informal British slang for a civilian—someone not in the armed forces or police.
Military personnel use it to distinguish outsiders from those in uniform.
In the plural, civvies means civilian clothes: He changed into civvies after leaving the base.
The word carries a mild us-versus-them tone without being derogatory.
