male-to-female

Becoming a woman

Male-to-female describes a person who was assigned male at birth and has transitioned or is transitioning to female.

Often abbreviated MTF.

The term appears in medical and transgender contexts: male-to-female hormone therapy, a male-to-female transgender woman.

Some prefer simply "trans woman" as less clinical.
